An Important Planet Access Update

Hello everyone! I just wanted to keep you all informed that since our work back in June, Planet Access has been going through a number of changes. One of the most exciting changes is the fact that we have new crew with an exciting array of skill that we look forward to implementating in all aspects of our upcoming endeavors.

Some other changes include website and logo redesign, more coverage available online, and a new format for our show.

Please bear with us as we go through these changes in an effort to give you a more streamlined and consistent Planet Access.

As for shows, currently we are in production of one that will premiere on WPAA Cable 18 on Friday, April 3rd! During that weekend we will have the features from the show up on youtube.

Stay tuned for more as we will get you the definitive time for our 4/03 show as well as a further look into our changes.

3rd Annual Film Industry Mixer

We just got back from the 3rd Annual Film Industry Mixer at the Palace Digital Studios in South Norwalk. Crew members Chris Hanley, Andrew Nathens, Jamia Weir and myself attended the event. The mixer featured good music, wine tasting, VIP panels, and a chance to chat it up with industry talents in CT. We met some fantastic people. Thanks to Alex and Neal for having us come down to get footage of the goings on.
Our cameras were rolling, and we got many interviews from folks who came to to the mixer. As we get our footage edited, we will get those clips up as soon as possible. To those who we spoke to and/or interviewed a couple of things:

Thanks again to Alex and Neal, and ofcourse everyone we got a chance to talk to. It was a pleasure! My apologies if you couldn't hear me, what with one of the music speakers right behind our table! lol :)
We had a great time and hope to do this again next year.

best regards,
Matt Wall

Planet Access Blasts off Again!

Hello everyone! Planet Access has been a little (lot?) slow recently, but we are gearing back up shortly. Here are a couple of 'behind the scenes' things we are working on:

  • A new volunteer drive is in effect. If you or someone you know would like to know more about getting involved with Planet Access, email us at planetaccesstv@yahoo.com
  • Planet Access will be covering the 3rd Annual Film Industry Mixer in CT. This event is a get together of local independent talent. If you would like to find out more about the mixer, check out: http://www.nealthomassen.com/party2008.htm
  • We broadcast through our local public access television station. Recently we have supported Public Access in speading awareness about the importance of public access. If you would like to know more about public access locally and nationally please check out: http://www.7towntv.org/ (locally) and http://ourchannels.org/ (nationally)
  • Congradulations to our own Kathryn Robinson for winning a first place award for her original teleplay for her short: Deadly Access. This award was for the 2008 Hometown Video Awards. We will be showing Deadly Access on an upcoming episode of Planet Access.
  • Also a congradulations to our favorite local author, M.J. Allair for releasing her third book in the Denicalis Dragon Chronicles, Dragon's Tear. To find out more about the book and how you can buy a copy, check M.J.'s website at: http://www.mjallaire.com/

MJ Allaire, author of the Denicalis Dragon Chronicles, visits our show!

Yes, on Friday March 15th (Einstein's Birthday!), we had writer MJ Allaire as a guest on our show. She is the writer of Dragon's Blood and The Prisoner, the first two books in her Denicalis Dragon Chronicles. We talked about the book series which is a fantasy series directed at 8-15 year olds. Of course, there are no age limits to the books as we had much fun reading them. :)

We also discussed self publishing. MJ had some great insight into the process. She talked about her situation and the freedom self publishing gave her. It is hard work promoting a book on your own, but MJ has come a far way in getting her series out there.

Although I stumbled quite a bit, and we had our usual technical difficulties (LOL) we all had a good time. The Record Journal even stopped by and got photos for an article they did on us! Clips of the show will be up as soon as we get them edited.

Thank you again MJ for stopping by and making for a great evening. If any of our viewers are interested in learning more about MJ and her books (including how to purchase them), please check out: www.mjallaire.com

Art Show

This past Friday, the 15th, we had our live artist show. It was a lot of fun. We had artists Jeff Wamester and Brian Watrous as live guests. They provided insight into their art process and showed us some of their artwork on air. We talked about inspiration, and learned a little about what makes artists tick, the effect of art, and the dangers of having a cup of water too close to a guests artwork! LOL Yea, Kathryn had a little accident and knocked over some water onto two of Brian's pieces. Now how is that for critique?!
Seriously though, Kathryn feels horrible about the incident. Mistakes happen, and fortunately Brian was very understanding. I want to thank both of our artists for coming onto the show. It was great having you. In the upcoming week we will have clips from the show.
We also have a bit of linking to do to various sites that we discussed on the show. We will have those up for you shortly as well. :)

Your Host,
Matt
