MJ Allaire, author of the Denicalis Dragon Chronicles, visits our show!

Yes, on Friday March 15th (Einstein's Birthday!), we had writer MJ Allaire as a guest on our show. She is the writer of Dragon's Blood and The Prisoner, the first two books in her Denicalis Dragon Chronicles. We talked about the book series which is a fantasy series directed at 8-15 year olds. Of course, there are no age limits to the books as we had much fun reading them. :)

We also discussed self publishing. MJ had some great insight into the process. She talked about her situation and the freedom self publishing gave her. It is hard work promoting a book on your own, but MJ has come a far way in getting her series out there.

Although I stumbled quite a bit, and we had our usual technical difficulties (LOL) we all had a good time. The Record Journal even stopped by and got photos for an article they did on us! Clips of the show will be up as soon as we get them edited.

Thank you again MJ for stopping by and making for a great evening. If any of our viewers are interested in learning more about MJ and her books (including how to purchase them), please check out: www.mjallaire.com

Art Show

This past Friday, the 15th, we had our live artist show. It was a lot of fun. We had artists Jeff Wamester and Brian Watrous as live guests. They provided insight into their art process and showed us some of their artwork on air. We talked about inspiration, and learned a little about what makes artists tick, the effect of art, and the dangers of having a cup of water too close to a guests artwork! LOL Yea, Kathryn had a little accident and knocked over some water onto two of Brian's pieces. Now how is that for critique?!
Seriously though, Kathryn feels horrible about the incident. Mistakes happen, and fortunately Brian was very understanding. I want to thank both of our artists for coming onto the show. It was great having you. In the upcoming week we will have clips from the show.
We also have a bit of linking to do to various sites that we discussed on the show. We will have those up for you shortly as well. :)

Matt

Upcoming Shows for September and October

Here is a little run down of what we have planned from here through to Halloween.
First up we have a live show planned for the 14th in which we will show all of our 'Meet the Crew' clips and open the phone lines to our viewers. It will be kind of an 'open house' into Planet Access and what we are all about.
The 27th of September is going to be a big show, also live. We are going back to back with live shows! This will be our 2nd annual Creature Theater show team-up with the Trail of Terror. It will feature independent shorts in the vein of 50s camp flicks.
In October we are going to have a show on costuming and make-up. We will give an inside look into the pros of the area and give tips on how you can make the best of this Halloween!
We round out the month with a Ghost themed show on Friday the 26th. Just enough time to get you all spooked for the 31st. The ghost show will include footage of ghost hunting in the area and a look into some of the ghost stories and legends of the New England area.
As you can see we have so much going on and an exciting schedule upcoming. Check back here often as we are always updating the site with news and clips from our show!

It Came from Promethean Fire

Our latest show went live a few days ago on public access. The theme for the episode had to do with Frankenstein and mans desire to create life from un-life. We presented some ways in which Hollywood has depicted Mary Shelly's classic story and then discussed the implications of the book itself. Some web links for more info on Frankenstein and the stories current impact on technology were provided.
The first link we wanted to share is a great intro to the history of sci fi over at wikipedia. This is important because it touches on Frankenstein as some would consider being the first science fiction and the birth of the genre. Also because this historical perspective depicts how powerful stories like Frankenstein are in exploring the greatest philosophical and moral questions of the day as things continually change around us.
Over at AI Depot there is a fantastic review of Frankenstein that touches on how this classic story is still relevant today. There are strong parallels between creation from un-life, as in the Frankenstein monster, his living experiences, and the development of artificial intelligence.
Along the lines of artificial intelligence, perhaps the site for the scientific exploration of the topic is kurzweilai.net which not only defines AI as artificial Intelligence, but also as Accelerated Intelligence. From the site: "KurzweilAI.Net focuses on the exponential growth of intelligence,   both biological and machine, and their merger, as humans transcend biology."

Some of our shows are more serious than others, and clearly this one was heavy on the talk and slim on the pretty pictures LOL! Still, we managed to do another 'Meet the Crew'. The Other Catherine was up, and appropriately there was some confusion as to whether or not she was really human....or just a clone! We should have that clip up for ya shortly.
